Skullscape with Lizardboy

Acrylic on Canvas Board, 2016

My piece, Skullscape with Lizardboy, was inspired by memento mori art, work that deals heavily with the fine line between life and death. The three objects are reminiscent of the three objects in Vanitas Still Life, a famous piece by Philippe de Champaigne, representing the fragility of our existence. I enjoyed using this medium and it was a great learning experience to paint directly from life.
